Story of the face:
Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shankar and Parvati, was born with a normal face. One day while going to bath, Mother Parvati ordered her son Ganesh to guard the house. Ganesha started guarding according to Mata's orders.At the same time, Lord Shankar arrived at the gate. And he said that this is my place of residence let me enter the house. The obedient Ganesha did not allow him to do so. That is why Lord Shankar, in a fit of anger, severed Ganesha's head from his trident.
Mother Parvati came outside the house shortly. And he told Lord Shankar the truth that while going to Mount Kailash, he himself had asked me to produce children with yoga, from the same knowledge that our son was born.
After that, Lord Shankar sent his messengers instructing them to go and bring the head of the first dead creature found in the north direction.
The messengers returned with the head of a dead elephant. Lord Shankar put the elephant's head on Ganesha and Ganesha became alive.
According to Shastras, Lord Ganesha has been called the deity of the planet Ketu. Ganesha is called Gajanan because the head of Lord Ganesha looks like an elephant. He is also called Mangal Murthy.
It is believed that by worshiping Ganesha, knowledge, wealth, intelligence, happiness and prosperity increase and all kinds of sufferings, obstacles and sorrows are destroyed.

A short story about Ganesh ji's vehicle "Mushak":
Sobhri Rishi, who lived on the Sumeru mountain in the past, goes to take wood in the forest one day. At that time, his brother was engaged in homework at Manomayi Ashram. Suddenly at that time, a wicked Gandharva turns his gaze on the sage's wife.Fascinated by Manomayi's beauty, he sneaks inside the ashram and grabs Manomayi's hand. At that very moment, the saints comes back to the ashram. Seeing the wickedness of that Gandharva, the noble sage curses-
"You have tried to enter my ashram like thieves and behave away from my Indian Standards, so you will come to the earth in the form of a "fool" and you will have to feed your stomach like thieves."
When Gandharva realized his mistake, he fell at the feet of the Sobhuri sage and started asking for forgiveness. The sage said that the curse given to me cannot fail, but it will be your fame to suffer the curse by becoming a fool on earth.
The sage said that in the Dwapara Yuga, Lord Ganesha will incarnate as "Gajmukh" in the ashram of Parashar Rishi, then you will become his vehicle, and will always be respected.
